Paper Crafts From Me to You

Hey everyone, it’s Donaville and it’s been a long while since my last (which was also my only) post on Little Miss Heirlooms. Life has been crazy awesome and crazy busy my little ones are getting crazier and crazier by the day.

A couple months ago, I embarked on a new blog venture. It was actually an expansion upon an original tumblr blog entitled Paper Finds that I created over a year ago while I was on pregnant with my twins during my maternity leave. Paper Finds initially began as a place where I showcased unique paper creations of every variety. If I happened upon a lovely and unique paper flower, it went up on Paper Finds. I had no idea it would take off so well, at least in the Twitter Universe, and in late April of this year I took the blog off of tumblr and moved it into a somewhat newer direction.

I slapped on a new name: Discover Paper. It’s now a blog that’s not only dedicated to finding paper creations, but it’s also a blog wherein I challenge myself to create something with paper and share it as well.

This month I am taking part in a creative initiative/challenge called 30 Days of Creativity. So far, it has been very rewarding and somewhat challenging because I aimed only to construct things out of paper.

Check out some of my paper creations:

Vintage Picture Frame

I love all things Martha Stewart and honestly believed if she lived in the time of Ancient Greece, she would have been deemed a demi-god. Martha and her team of professional crafters make everything they create look so beautiful and so effortless.

For my first post on LMH, I wanted to share a vintage-related DIY fun for all generations of women, and I found the perfect one on Martha Stewart’s website. So the next time you visit Grandma or Great-Grandma, be sure to pack the following arts & crafts supplies with you:

  • Two 9-by-7 sheets of paper (contrasting designs)
  • Transfer paper
  • Transfer tape
  • Picture frame card template (available for download from Martha Stewart. Seriously a demi-god, right?)
  • Regular and scalloped scissors
  • Wave cutter
  • 12-by-8-inch piece of card stock
  • Hole punch
  • Brad
  • 1/2-by-6 1/2-inch piece of 2-ply museum board
  • Bone folder
  • 6-by-8-inch envelope *optional

And read the full instructions on how to create a vintage picture frame here.
