Hawaii Day 2

Yesterday we went to a beach that was about 30 min away from my sisters house. We had to walk from the parking lot to the beach which was a couple miles but we had fun looking at all the shops! Christian loved the Ferrari shop and it was hard to tell him to stop for  picture cause he wanted to crawl all over the cars.

Carter fell asleep in the car on the way to the beach an didn’t wake up till about 20 min after my sisterand her family had already been swimming. He hasn’t done that since he was a baby!

This guy is a “performer” on the street that sits perfectly still until you give him some money and then he “busts” a move! Um probably the dumbest 2 bucks Ive ever spent but the boys liked it.

Art Finds

There is something very alluring about these letterpress posters offered through Wilkintie. Maybe its the storybook illustrations or the shocking color combinations? Could it be the softness of the rag paper or the unique graphics? Whatever it is, I am sure your child will be fully hypnotized and drawn to these very special pieces of art.

Hawaii Day 1

I had my laptop in one hand and my 25 pound carry on in the other and tried to hold on to Carter who was half way crying while holding his Paul Frank Shorts and saying “my butt hurts.” I gave Christian the duty of holding our flight snacks ( you know how airplane food is – yuck) and was frantically holding Carters “my butt hurts” hands and looking at Christian making sure he didn’t drop our food.

We got to the terminal and soon got on the plane. I just hoped that I wasn’t the only person with little kids on the plane! We sat down, tried to get comfortable and tried to distract Christian from “I’m board” aka give me the ds and Carter from wanting to sit and “try” every seat on the plane.

The boys did pretty good for the most part but into about 3 hours of the 5 and half hour trip they both got super restless. Carter started walking and talking to every other passangers, taking his camera and telling everyone to “Smile.” He was cute and everyone enjoyed him.

The highlight of the trip was how powerful the “flush” of the airplane toilet was. I think the first time it actually scared Carter but after that he wanted to “go potty” about 5 times.

After trying to entertain the boys for 5 hours I was ready to kiss the Hawaiian floor. I was so happy to land and get ready to have fun with them  but first I was super excited about getting to my sisters house and taking a nap!

We even went to the beach today! :) Here are some pics from today.Pictures: Carter telling the passangers to say “cheese” on the plane. Wearing Mini Rodini Hot Hog Top. Christian and his ds wearing Finger in the Nose Jacket and Kico Kids Top. Boys playing on the beach with cousin Conner in thebackground.

Meet Sobu

This beautiful family is the family behind Sobou, the designers who created the “junk in the trunk twin bed with storage.” It’s super cool, functional and beautiful – take a look yourself!

I was super excited to see their beautiful family and to ask Laleh a few questions!

We love the Junk in the Trunk bed! Will you be designing anything else?

Laleh: we will soon be adding exclusive art offerings to the site, in addition to more furniture including a queen version of the JITT bed with storage.

You are new , when did you come out?
Laleh: we launched the site in January of 2011. brand new!

Why did you start designing?
Laleh:  my husband and i are both designers; he is an architect and furniture designer and i’m a photographer and graphic designer…so it was really inevitable that we would eventually bring together our interests and experience to launch our own design company. plus, as a creative person it is the most satisfying to create your own work, based on your own ideas and inspirations. in other words, we were tired of having clients to please!!

What inspires you?
Laleh:  humor, beauty, good music, Japanese/Swedish/danish/french aesthetics, nature, our kids .

….Sobu ….
